When the subject is fire protection, responsible firms
throughout Alabama and Georgia turn to Columbus Fire &
Safety. With over 30 years experience, CF & S has
designed fire protection systems based on proven
technologies for businesses both large and small.
Specializing in designing, specifying, installing and
servicing of special hazard fire detection and
suppression systems, Columbus Fire & Safety presently
has over 1000 systems installed in the Southeastern
United States. Here are some of the fire detection and
suppression systems we offer:
Fire
Extinguishers
A portable fire extinguisher can save lives and property
by putting out a small fire or containing it until the
fire department arrives. Armed with the right type of
fire extinguisher, a property owner can often extinguish
or contain a fire before it becomes a major blaze.
Fire Detection & Alarm
Provides for notification and evacuation of personnel as
a result of the manual operation of a pull station, the
automatic operation of a smoke or heat detector, or the
automatic operation of protective equipment (such as a
kitchen hood system or clean agent system).
Fire Alarms (Detection) Systems are typically
installed in any facility where the existing situation
involves a distinct hazard to life or property.

Clean Agent
Systems (FM-200 and Inergen)
Unlike other fire protection alternatives, FM-200 and
Inergen fire suppression agents won’t damage valuable
assets like sensitive computer or medical equipment; it
leaves behind no residues, does not deplete
stratospheric ozone, and are approved for use in
occupied areas.
Clean Agent Systems are typically used in areas such
as Data Centers, Medical Diagnostic Centers,
Archives/Record Storage, Communication Facilities, etc.
CO2 Systems
NFPA 12 recognizes two types of CO2 systems. The most
common and widely installed is high pressure. The second
type is low pressure. The main difference between the
two is the manner in which the CO2 is stored.
CO2 fire extinguishing systems are probably the most
cost effective choice when protecting equipment within
your facility in areas that are not occupied by people.
Some typical applications for CO2 systems are turbine
generators, flammable liquid storage areas, quench
tanks, industrial ovens, and paint spray booths.
AFFF Foam
Systems
Aqueous Film-Forming Foams (AFFF) are based on
combinations of fluoro-chemical surfactants, hydrocarbon
surfactants, and solvents. These agent require a very
low energy input to produce a high quality fire fighting
foam. Consequently, they can be applied through a wide
variety of foam delivery systems. |
